Description For Control Systems Engineer Manager, Reliability Maintenance Engineering (RME)

Amazon's Reliability, Maintenance, and Engineering (RME) team is seeking a Control Systems Engineer Manager to join their dynamic organization. This role represents a unique opportunity to lead and innovate in Amazon's sophisticated fulfillment center operations.

The position focuses on maximizing equipment reliability and operational performance of critical systems including conveyors, sortation systems, scanners, cameras, print and apply systems, and SCADA devices. As a Control Systems Engineer Manager, you'll be at the intersection of automation, leadership, and operational excellence.

You'll lead a team of Control Systems Technicians and Leads, working closely with multiple stakeholders including Operations, Engineering, FC Start-up Team, and Safety teams. Your expertise will be crucial in maintaining and optimizing material handling control systems, including PLC/PC controllers and industrial networks.

Key aspects of the role include providing technical leadership, mentoring team members, managing system performance, and driving continuous improvement through failure analysis and incident review processes. You'll also serve as a technical consultant for capital projects and act as first-level escalation support for complex technical issues.

The ideal candidate brings a strong background in electrical theory, robotics, and controls components, combined with leadership abilities and excellent communication skills. Responsibilities For Control Systems Engineer Manager, Reliability Maintenance Engineering (RME)

  • Coordinate and plan work activities for Control Systems Techs/Leads
  • Work with Operations, Engineering, FC Start up Team, and Safety teams
  • Maintain and troubleshoot material handling control systems
  • Monitor MHE metrics and analyze system performance
  • Provide first level escalation support
  • Mentor Control System Technicians and Leads
  • Facilitate Failure Analysis and Incident Review processes
  • Perform System Assessments
  • Partner with Operations leadership and vendors for new technology installations
  • Communicate technical issues and project timelines

Requirements For Control Systems Engineer Manager, Reliability Maintenance Engineering (RME)

Linux
  • Bachelor's degree or 2+ years of equivalent experience working at Amazon
  • Work flexible schedule including weekends, nights, and holidays
  • Experience with electrical theory, Robotics, Controls components
  • Experience with HMI and control network components
  • Industrial electrical hands-on experience
  • Experience with SCADA systems
  • Familiarity with programming software like RSLogix5000 studio
  • Ability to lead others in technical roles
  • Systems integration experience
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
