AWS Infrastructure Services is at the heart of Amazon's cloud operations, responsible for the design, planning, delivery, and operation of all AWS global infrastructure. This role is part of the team that keeps the cloud running, supporting all AWS data centers including servers, storage, networking, power, and cooling equipment. As a Controls Engineer in the global controls team, you'll work with highly motivated experts in the data center industry, managing building management systems (BMS) and electrical power monitoring systems (EPMS). You'll be responsible for complex systems including generators, UPS, electrical switchgear, cooling systems, and more. The role combines technical expertise with project management, requiring both hands-on technical skills and leadership abilities. Responsibilities For Controls Engineer, Deployment, Data Center Capacity Delivery

  • Train and assist with creation, design, configuration of BMS and EPMS systems
  • Provide technical assistance and support to operations
  • Review and resolve maintenance items for BMS and EPMS
  • Develop and manage BMS & EPMS projects scope, schedule, and budget
  • Participate in AWS global on-call schedule
  • Review and implement controls sequence of operation
  • Develop and modify controls logic programming
  • Manage multiple stakeholder deliverables
  • Financially manage BMS and EPMS service contracts
  • Regular site visits to troubleshoot and supervise vendor work

Requirements For Controls Engineer, Deployment, Data Center Capacity Delivery

Linux
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or equivalent engineering science plus 5+ years of relevant controls experience, OR 10+ years of relevant controls experience
  • 5+ years of experience with industrial controls in critical environment
  • 4+ years of general project or vendor management experience
  • Experience with HVAC Controls or Electrical SCADA systems
  • Experience with industrial communication protocols (MQTT, BACnet and/or MODBUS)
  • Understanding of engineering documentation, electrical and mechanical diagrams
