Description For Controls Engineer, Deployment, Data Center Capacity Delivery

AWS Infrastructure Services is at the heart of Amazon's cloud operations, responsible for the design, planning, delivery, and operation of all AWS global infrastructure. This role is part of the team that keeps the cloud running, managing critical data center infrastructure including BMS (Building Management System) and EPMS (Electrical Power Monitoring System).

As a Controls Engineer, you'll work with a diverse team of experts managing sophisticated data center components including generators, UPS systems, electrical switchgear, cooling systems, and more. You'll be responsible for troubleshooting, project management, and maintaining critical control systems that ensure AWS data centers operate efficiently and reliably.

The position requires deep technical expertise in industrial controls and automation, combined with strong project management skills. You'll be involved in everything from system design and configuration to vendor management and financial oversight. Responsibilities For Controls Engineer, Deployment, Data Center Capacity Delivery

  • Train and assist with creation, design, configuration of BMS and EPMS systems
  • Provide technical assistance and support to operations
  • Develop and manage BMS & EPMS projects scope, schedule, and budget
  • Participate in AWS global on-call schedule
  • Review and implement controls sequence of operation
  • Develop and modify controls logic programming
  • Manage multiple stakeholder deliverables
  • Financially manage BMS and EPMS service contracts
  • Regular site visits to troubleshoot and supervise vendor work

Requirements For Controls Engineer, Deployment, Data Center Capacity Delivery

Linux
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or equivalent engineering science plus 5+ years of relevant controls experience, OR 10+ years of relevant controls experience
  • 5+ years of experience with industrial controls in critical environment
  • 4+ years of general project or vendor management experience
  • Experience with HVAC Controls or Electrical SCADA systems
  • Experience with industrial communication protocols (MQTT, BACnet and/or MODBUS)
  • Understanding of engineering documentation, electrical and mechanical diagrams
