AWS Infrastructure Services is seeking a Critical Infrastructure Electrical Engineer to join their team responsible for the design, planning, delivery, and operation of AWS global infrastructure. This role is crucial in supporting AWS data centers and ensuring continuous access to cloud innovation for customers.

As a Critical Infrastructure Engineer, you'll provide comprehensive life-cycle support to AWS Data Centers, from initial design through maintenance and improvements. You'll serve as the primary engineering resource for your region, applying your expertise to troubleshoot issues, conduct root cause analyses, and develop solutions that enhance capacity, availability, and efficiency.

The position offers a unique blend of hands-on technical work and collaborative opportunities, working with diverse teams including data center operations, design engineering, server hardware, and environmental health and safety. You'll be responsible for leading projects that expand and optimize our data center fleet to meet evolving customer needs at hyper-scale.

Responsibilities For Critical Infrastructure Electrical Engineer, Field Engineering

  • Provide full life-cycle support to AWS Data Centers from design inception through maintenance
  • Troubleshoot and conduct Root Cause Analysis for site/equipment failures
  • Support operational issues with training and procedure reviews
  • Own conceptual design for data center upgrades and design-solutions
  • Interface with multiple teams to maintain consistency and reliability
  • Develop innovative solutions for AWS's data centers
  • Lead engineering audits and produce risk assessment reports
  • Act as resident engineer during new construction projects

Requirements For Critical Infrastructure Electrical Engineer, Field Engineering

Linux
  • Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent experience
  • Must have a valid US driver's license and reliable personal transportation
  • Coursework in commercial/industrial power systems (preferred)
  • Leadership and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent communication and writing skills
  • Experience using web-based software tools for calculation and data processing
