Description For Critical Infrastructure Mechanical Engineer, Field Engineering

AWS Infrastructure Services is seeking a Field Engineer to join their team responsible for keeping the cloud running. This role involves providing comprehensive support to AWS Data Centers, from initial design through maintenance and improvements. As a Field Engineer, you'll be the primary engineering resource for your region, utilizing your expertise to review designs, troubleshoot issues, and lead various technical initiatives.

The position requires strong engineering judgment and the ability to work with diverse teams across AWS. You'll be responsible for conducting Root Cause Analysis, creating documentation, and supporting operational issues. The role involves both office and field work, allowing you to directly impact AWS's data center infrastructure.

Responsibilities For Critical Infrastructure Mechanical Engineer, Field Engineering

  • Provide full life-cycle support to AWS Data Centers from design inception through site improvement and maintenance
  • Perform design and equipment submittal review for new Data Centers
  • Troubleshoot, conduct Root Cause Analysis (RCA) and create Corrective Action documentation
  • Support operational issues with training and procedure reviews
  • Own conceptual design for data center upgrades and design-solutions
  • Interface with internal teams to promote standards
  • Develop innovative solutions for AWS's data centers
  • Lead engineering audits and produce risk reports
  • Act as resident engineer during new construction projects

Requirements For Critical Infrastructure Mechanical Engineer, Field Engineering

  • Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent experience
  • 3+ years of experience with industrial or commercial engineering in Mission Critical facilities
  • Experience with design, construction, operation, or maintenance of mission critical facilities
  • Knowledge of building codes and regulations
  • Experience reading, interpreting, and creating construction drawings
  • Basic understanding of mechanical and electrical equipment/design related to data centers
  • Experience with EPMS/SCADA/BMS Controls systems
