Description For Critical Infrastructure Portfolio Engineer, Field Engineering

The Data Center Field Engineering Team at AWS is responsible for the complete lifecycle of AWS data centers, from new designs and innovations through end-of-life. This role focuses on supporting critical infrastructure as a Portfolio Engineer, requiring exceptional communication skills and technical expertise in data center MEP infrastructure. You'll manage fleet-wide solutions, working with cross-functional teams to ensure optimal availability and efficiency.

The position involves leading multi-discipline technical teams, making strategic decisions, and connecting long-term strategies with AWS's rapid growth patterns. You'll be responsible for identifying and resolving risks, issues, and bottlenecks across departmental boundaries. The role requires strong organizational skills and the ability to build robust working relationships with both internal and external stakeholders.

As part of AWS Infrastructure Services, you'll join a diverse team that keeps the cloud running, working alongside software, hardware, and network engineers, supply chain specialists, and security experts. Responsibilities For Critical Infrastructure Portfolio Engineer, Field Engineering

  • Manage fleet-wide MEP availability solutions across organizational boundaries
  • Full lifecycle ownership from availability risk identification to global fleet-wide resolution
  • Develop standards and processes for tracking, reporting, and closure of risks
  • Prepare narratives for executive leadership with recommendations
  • Lead teams to optimize the Field Engineering portfolio
  • Support data center capacity availability and safety
  • Up to 10% travel expected

Requirements For Critical Infrastructure Portfolio Engineer, Field Engineering

Linux
  • Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or equivalent experience
  • 3+ years experience with industrial or commercial engineering or project management in Mission Critical facilities
  • Experience with global portfolio/program management working with cross functional teams
  • Excellent communication and writing skills
  • Attention to detail and high quality standards
