Description For Critical Infrastructure Regional Electrical Engineer

AWS Infrastructure Services is seeking a Critical Infrastructure Regional Electrical Engineer to join their team responsible for the design, planning, delivery, and operation of AWS global infrastructure. This role is crucial in supporting AWS data centers and ensuring continuous customer access to cloud innovations. As an Amazon Critical Infrastructure Engineer, you'll provide comprehensive life-cycle support to AWS Data Centers, from initial design through maintenance and improvements. You'll be the primary engineering resource for your region, handling technical challenges and working with diverse teams.

The role involves troubleshooting, conducting Root Cause Analysis, creating documentation for site/equipment failures, and supporting operational issues. You'll own conceptual designs for data center upgrades that improve capacity, availability, efficiency, and sustainability. The position requires collaboration with multiple teams, including data center operations, design engineering, server hardware, and environmental health and safety.

The ideal candidate should possess strong engineering judgment, be detail-oriented, and have experience solving problems with engineered solutions. You'll need a Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent experience, plus 3+ years in industrial, municipal, or commercial engineering. Experience with mission-critical facilities, especially data centers, is highly valued.

Responsibilities For Critical Infrastructure Regional Electrical Engineer

  • Provide full life-cycle support to AWS Data Centers from design inception through site improvement and maintenance
  • Troubleshoot, conduct Root Cause Analysis (RCA) and create Corrective Action documentation
  • Support operational issues with training and procedure reviews
  • Own conceptual design for data center upgrades and design-solutions
  • Interface with internal teams to maintain consistency and reliability
  • Develop innovative solutions for AWS's data centers
  • Lead engineering audits and produce risk reports
  • Act as resident engineer during new construction projects

Requirements For Critical Infrastructure Regional Electrical Engineer

Linux
  • Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent experience
  • 3+ years experience with industrial, municipal, or commercial engineering
  • Experience with mission critical facilities
  • Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications
  • Understanding of mechanical and electrical equipment/design related to data centers
  • Experience with EPMS/SCADA/BMS Controls systems
