Amazon Web Services (AWS) is seeking a Data Center Chief Engineer to join their Data Center Engineering Operations team. As a Chief Engineer, you will be responsible for maintaining and operating critical infrastructure systems in some of the world's most sophisticated, safe, and secure data centers.
Key responsibilities include:
- Acting as the primary escalation point for facilities-related issues
- Overseeing operation and management of routine and emergency services on critical systems
- Performing root cause analysis of equipment failures
- Providing training and guidance to Engineering Operations Technicians
- Creating and deploying new standard practices
- Assisting in the build-out of new facilities and efficiency improvement projects
- Working outside normal business hours for routine maintenance and emergency calls
- Communicating complex technical information to non-technical audiences
- Ensuring safety procedures are adhered to by vendor and Amazon staff
- Establishing building performance benchmarks and conducting analyses
The ideal candidate will have:
- Technical training or degree in a relevant field (electrical, mechanical)
- 3+ years of electrical or mechanical experience
- 3+ years of data center or mission-critical facilities experience
- Strong troubleshooting skills for electrical and mechanical equipment
- Ability to manage projects from conception to completion
- Experience with a wide range of critical systems and equipment
