AWS Infrastructure Services is seeking a Data Center Chief Engineer to join their team responsible for the design, planning, delivery, and operation of AWS global infrastructure. This role is crucial in maintaining the backbone of AWS's cloud operations, ensuring continuous service delivery to customers worldwide.
The position combines technical expertise with leadership responsibilities, requiring hands-on experience with critical data center systems including electrical, mechanical, and cooling infrastructure. As a Chief Engineer, you'll be responsible for maintaining better than 99.999% uptime for mission-critical systems, working with sophisticated equipment including standby diesel generators, UPS units, PDUs, CRAHU units, centrifugal chillers, and various mechanical systems.
Your role will involve leading and mentoring a team of Engineering Operations Technicians, establishing best practices, and driving operational excellence. You'll be expected to manage complex projects from conception to completion, working collaboratively with cross-functional teams including engineering, automation, processing, and finance teams both locally and globally.
The ideal candidate brings a strong technical background in electrical or mechanical systems, with proven experience in mission-critical facilities. You'll need excellent problem-solving abilities for troubleshooting complex systems and strong communication skills to explain technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
