Description For Data Center Chief Engineer, DCEO

AWS Infrastructure Services is seeking a Data Center Chief Engineer to join their world-class team responsible for keeping the cloud running. This role combines hands-on technical expertise with leadership responsibilities in managing critical data center operations. As a Chief Engineer, you'll be at the forefront of maintaining and operating some of the world's most sophisticated data centers, ensuring 99.999% uptime for critical infrastructure.

The position offers a unique blend of technical challenges and leadership opportunities, working with cutting-edge technology in AWS's global infrastructure. You'll be responsible for managing complex systems including electrical support equipment, mechanical systems, and critical facility operations. The role requires both technical expertise in facilities management and leadership skills in training and guiding technicians.

Responsibilities For Data Center Chief Engineer, DCEO

  • Act as primary escalation point for facilities-related issues
  • Oversee operation of critical systems (switchgear, generators, UPS systems, chillers, etc.)
  • Perform root cause analysis of equipment failures
  • Provide training and guidance to Engineering Operations Technicians
  • Create and deploy new standard practices for operations teams
  • Assist in build out of new facilities and efficiency improvement projects
  • Communicate complex technical information to non-technical audience
  • Ensure safety procedures adherence
  • Establish building performance benchmarks and conduct analyses
  • Manage and maintain mission-critical data center facility equipment

Requirements For Data Center Chief Engineer, DCEO

Linux
  • Technical (Military/Trade School) training or degree in electrical or mechanical field
  • 3+ years of electrical or mechanical experience
  • 3+ years of data center or mission critical facilities experience
  • Ability to lift and move up to 39 pounds independently
  • Physical capability to maintain balance and perform construction tasks on ladders
  • Willingness to work outside normal business hours for maintenance and emergency calls
