AWS Infrastructure Services is seeking a Data Center Chief Engineer to join their team responsible for maintaining and operating critical infrastructure systems in some of the world's most sophisticated data centers. This role combines hands-on technical expertise with leadership responsibilities, focusing on ensuring 99.999% uptime for mission-critical facilities.
The position involves managing complex electrical and mechanical systems, including standby diesel generators, UPS units, cooling systems, and various support equipment. As a Chief Engineer, you'll lead a team of technicians, providing training and guidance while establishing best practices for operations and maintenance.

Responsibilities For Data Center Chief Engineer, DCEO
- Act as primary escalation point for facilities-related issues
- Oversee operation and management of critical systems (switchgear, generators, UPS systems, etc.)
- Perform root cause analysis of equipment failures
- Provide training and guidance to Engineering Operations Technicians
- Create and deploy new standard practices
- Assist in build out of new facilities
- Communicate complex technical information to non-technical audience
- Ensure safety procedures adherence
- Establish building performance benchmarks
- Maintain and troubleshoot mission-critical data center facility equipment
Requirements For Data Center Chief Engineer, DCEO
- Technical (Military/Trade School) training or degree in electrical or mechanical field
- 3+ years of electrical or mechanical experience
- 3+ years of data center or mission critical facilities experience
- Ability to lift up to 39 pounds independently
- Willingness to work outside normal business hours
- Physical ability to maintain balance, work on ladders, and perform construction tasks
