Description For Data Center Chief Engineer, DCEO

AWS Infrastructure Services is seeking a Data Center Chief Engineer (CE) to join their world-class team responsible for maintaining and operating critical infrastructure systems. As a CE at AWS, you'll work in some of the world's most sophisticated and secure data centers, collaborating with global experts to implement cutting-edge technology and best practices.

The role involves hands-on leadership in electrical and mechanical equipment troubleshooting, maintaining mission-critical systems that require 99.999% uptime. You'll work with complex systems including diesel generators, UPS units, PDUs, CRAHU units, centrifugal chillers, and various mechanical and electrical systems. The position requires both technical expertise and leadership skills, as you'll be directing and training technicians while managing critical projects from conception to completion.

AWS Infrastructure Services owns the design, planning, delivery, and operation of all AWS global infrastructure. This team keeps the cloud running, supporting all AWS data centers and the essential equipment that ensures continuous customer access to AWS services. You'll join a diverse team of engineers, supply chain specialists, and security experts, working on challenging problems that impact global cloud infrastructure.

Responsibilities For Data Center Chief Engineer, DCEO

  • Act as primary escalation point for facilities-related issues
  • Oversee operation and management of critical systems (switchgear, generators, UPS systems, etc.)
  • Perform root cause analysis of equipment failures
  • Provide training and guidance to Engineering Operations Technicians
  • Create and deploy new standard practices
  • Assist in build out of new facilities
  • Communicate complex technical information to non-technical audience
  • Ensure safety procedures adherence
  • Establish building performance benchmarks
  • Maintain and troubleshoot mission-critical data center facility equipment

Requirements For Data Center Chief Engineer, DCEO

Linux
  • Technical (Military/Trade School) training or degree in electrical or mechanical field
  • 3+ years of electrical or mechanical experience
  • 3+ years of data center or mission critical facilities experience
  • Ability to lift up to 39 pounds independently
  • Physical capability to maintain balance and perform construction tasks
  • Willingness to work outside normal business hours
