Description For Data Center Engineering Operations Engineer, DCEO

AWS Infrastructure Services is at the heart of Amazon's cloud operations, responsible for the design, planning, delivery, and operation of all AWS global infrastructure. This role within the Infrastructure Operations (Data Center) Team is crucial for maintaining AWS's physical infrastructure and ensuring 24/7 operational excellence. As a Data Center Engineering Operations (DCEO) Engineer, you'll be responsible for managing critical facilities, including risk management, maintenance planning, and vendor coordination. The position requires a strong technical background in data center operations and facilities management.

The role combines hands-on technical work with strategic planning and team coordination. You'll work with electrical, mechanical, and fire/life safety equipment, manage vendor relationships, respond to incidents, and drive improvements in facility capacity and efficiency. The position offers exposure to cutting-edge cloud infrastructure and the opportunity to work with diverse teams across AWS.

Key aspects of the role include maintaining critical infrastructure, supervising specialist vendors, acting as first responders to incidents, and becoming a subject matter expert for the facility. You'll be responsible for establishing performance benchmarks, conducting analysis, and ensuring all operations meet AWS's high standards for safety, security, and reliability.

Responsibilities For Data Center Engineering Operations Engineer, DCEO

  • Act as site primary point of contact for internal and external stakeholders
  • Meet daily operations and on-call requirements
  • Manage planned and unplanned site works for critical infrastructure
  • On-site management of contractors and vendors
  • Establish performance benchmarks and prepare reports
  • Generate change management requests & incident management tickets
  • Coordinate projects and manage capacity with various teams
  • Establish technical documentation
  • Drive & implement projects to increase facility capacity and efficiency
  • Troubleshoot facility and rack-level events within SLAs

Requirements For Data Center Engineering Operations Engineer, DCEO

Linux
  • 4+ years of relevant work experience in maintaining electrical, mechanical, HVAC, fire systems experience in a data center or critical space facility
  • Familiar with concepts and interaction of Service Management systems (Problem and Change)
  • Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering, HVAC, Mechanical Engineering or relevant technical degree
  • Understanding of electrical and mechanical systems in data center environment
  • Experience in management of vendors/contractors
