Description For Data Center Engineering Operations Technician

AWS Infrastructure Services is at the heart of Amazon's cloud operations, responsible for the design, planning, delivery, and operation of all AWS global infrastructure. This role offers an opportunity to join the team that literally keeps the cloud running, supporting all AWS data centers and their critical components including servers, storage, networking, power, and cooling equipment.

As a Data Center Engineering Operations Technician, you'll be part of a diverse team working on challenging infrastructure problems that directly impact millions of AWS customers. Your responsibilities will include maintaining critical infrastructure with 99.999% uptime requirements, troubleshooting facility and rack-level events, and managing on-site contractors and vendors.

The position offers hands-on experience with some of the world's most sophisticated data centers, working alongside talented professionals from various technical backgrounds. You'll be involved in everything from rack installations to monitoring complex electrical and mechanical systems, ensuring the continuous operation of AWS's massive cloud computing portfolio.

Responsibilities For Data Center Engineering Operations Technician

  • Assist in troubleshooting facility and rack-level events within internal SLAs
  • Perform rack installs, rack decommissioning, operational readings and facility management
  • Provide key performance indicators to senior engineers
  • Manage on-site contractors and vendors
  • Monitor maintenance and operations of electrical, mechanical, and fire/life safety equipment
  • Maintain data center critical infrastructure ensuring 99.999% up-time
  • Support multiple locations/sites
  • Perform construction tasks and equipment maintenance

Requirements For Data Center Engineering Operations Technician

Linux
  • Technical (Military/Trade School) training or 2+ years of equivalent experience in electrical or mechanical industry
  • 2+ years of electrical or mechanical experience
  • 2+ years experience with Microsoft Office products
  • Ability to lift up to 39 pounds independently
  • Physical capabilities: walking, climbing, stooping, kneeling, working above shoulders
  • Ability to work 12-hour shifts and rotating schedules
