Description For Data Center Engineering Operations Technician

Join AWS's Data Center Engineering Operations team as a front-line responder supporting some of the world's most powerful data centers. As an Engineering Operations Technician (EOT), you'll be responsible for maintaining and operating critical infrastructure systems in AWS's sophisticated and secure data centers. The role involves hands-on electrical and mechanical equipment maintenance, troubleshooting, and monitoring of various systems including standby diesel generators, 3-phase electrical systems, HVAC equipment, and fire/life safety systems.

You'll work with cutting-edge technology and collaborate with bright minds globally to implement new technologies and work practices. The position requires both technical expertise and physical capabilities, as you'll be performing regular building rounds, monitoring various management systems, and handling equipment maintenance and repairs. You'll also be involved in technical writing and project management, from conception to completion.

AWS Infrastructure Services is the backbone of Amazon's cloud operations, owning the design, planning, delivery, and operation of all AWS global infrastructure. Responsibilities For Data Center Engineering Operations Technician

  • Daily building rounds to monitor and record information from electrical, mechanical, and fire/life safety equipment
  • Monitor Building Management Systems (BMS) and Electrical Power Management System (EPMS)
  • Troubleshoot facility and rack-level events within internal SLAs
  • Perform rack installs and decommissioning
  • Perform PM, troubleshooting, root cause analysis, and repair of electrical and mechanical equipment
  • Technical writing to support change management program
  • Monitor daily work requests and manage to resolution
  • On-site support of contractors and vendors

Requirements For Data Center Engineering Operations Technician

Linux
  • High school or equivalent diploma
  • Technical (Military/Trade School) training or 1+ years of electrical or mechanical, HVAC, fire system experience
  • 1+ years experience with Microsoft Office products
  • Ability to lift up to 39 pounds independently
  • Ability to work in rotating 12-hour shifts
  • Physical ability to maintain balance, work on ladders, and perform construction tasks
