Description For Data Center Engineering Operations Technician

AWS Infrastructure Services is seeking a Data Center Engineering Operations Technician to join their world-class team maintaining and operating critical infrastructure systems. This role serves as Amazon's front line for hands-on electrical and mechanical equipment maintenance in some of the world's most sophisticated data centers.

The position involves working with cutting-edge technology and the brightest minds globally to maintain AWS's vast cloud computing infrastructure. You'll be responsible for maintaining mission-critical systems including standby diesel generators, 3-phase electrical systems, mechanical equipment like chillers and cooling towers, and fire/life safety systems.

As an EOT, you'll conduct daily monitoring rounds, perform preventative maintenance, troubleshoot complex systems, and ensure 24/7 reliability of data center operations. The role requires both technical expertise and physical capabilities, as you'll be working with heavy equipment and in various environmental conditions.

Responsibilities For Data Center Engineering Operations Technician

  • Daily building rounds to monitor electrical, mechanical, and fire/life safety equipment
  • Monitor Building Management Systems (BMS) and Electrical Power Management System (EPMS)
  • Troubleshoot facility and rack-level events within SLAs
  • Perform rack installs and decommissioning
  • Perform PM, troubleshooting, root cause analysis of electrical and mechanical equipment
  • Technical writing for change management program
  • Monitor and resolve daily work requests
  • Provide on-site support for contractors and vendors
  • Work rotating 12-hour shifts with possible on-call duties

Requirements For Data Center Engineering Operations Technician

Linux
  • Technical (Military/Trade School) training or 2+ years of electrical or mechanical, HVAC, fire system experience
  • 2+ years of electrical or mechanical experience
  • 2+ years experience with Microsoft Office products
  • High school or equivalent diploma
  • Ability to lift up to 39 pounds independently
  • Ability to participate in group lifts for 40+ pounds
  • Physical ability to maintain balance and perform tasks on ladder
  • Ability to work with ear protection
