Description For Data Center Engineering Operations Technician

AWS Infrastructure Services is at the heart of Amazon's cloud operations, responsible for the design, planning, delivery, and operation of all AWS global infrastructure. This role is crucial for maintaining the backbone of AWS's cloud services, working directly with mission-critical data center facility equipment. As a Data Center Engineering Operations Technician, you'll be responsible for ensuring 24/7 reliability of electrical, mechanical, and fire/life safety systems.

The position offers hands-on experience with advanced infrastructure including standby diesel generators, 3-phase electrical systems, UPS units, PDUs, CRAHU units, centrifugal chillers, and various mechanical systems. You'll work alongside a diverse team of professionals, including software, hardware, and network engineers, contributing to the continuous operation of AWS's global infrastructure.

Responsibilities For Data Center Engineering Operations Technician

  • Daily building rounds to monitor electrical, mechanical, and fire/life safety equipment
  • Monitor Building Management Systems (BMS) and Electrical Power Management System (EPMS)
  • Troubleshoot facility and rack-level events within SLAs
  • Perform rack installs and decommissioning
  • Perform PM, troubleshooting, root cause analysis of electrical and mechanical equipment
  • Technical writing for change management program
  • Monitor and resolve daily work requests
  • Provide on-site support for contractors and vendors
  • Work rotating 12-hour shifts with possible on-call duties

Requirements For Data Center Engineering Operations Technician

Linux
  • Technical (Military/Trade School) training or 1+ years of electrical or mechanical, HVAC, fire system experience
  • 1+ years of electrical or mechanical experience
  • 1+ years experience with Microsoft Office products (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
  • High school or equivalent diploma
  • Ability to lift and move up to 39 pounds independently
  • Physical capability to work on ladders, stoop, kneel, crouch, and crawl
