Description For Data Center Engineering Operations Technician

Join AWS as a Data Center Engineering Operations Technician and become part of Earth's most customer-centric company. You'll work with front-line responders supporting operations of world-class data centers in AWS's Infrastructure Services team. This role involves maintaining and operating critical infrastructure systems, including electrical, mechanical, and fire/life safety equipment. You'll work alongside global experts, implementing cutting-edge technology and practices.

The position requires hands-on experience with mission-critical equipment like diesel generators, 3-phase electrical systems, UPS units, PDUs, and mechanical systems including chillers and cooling towers. You'll perform regular maintenance, troubleshooting, and monitoring through building management systems while ensuring 24/7 reliability.

AWS Infrastructure Services is responsible for the design, planning, delivery, and operation of all AWS global infrastructure. We're the team that keeps the cloud running, managing thousands of variables in the supply chain to ensure continuous customer access to AWS services. Responsibilities For Data Center Engineering Operations Technician

  • Daily building rounds to monitor and record information from electrical, mechanical, and fire/life safety equipment
  • Monitor Building Management Systems (BMS) and Electrical Power Management System (EPMS)
  • Assist in troubleshooting facility and rack-level events
  • Perform rack installs and decommissioning
  • Perform PM, troubleshooting, root cause analysis, and repair of electrical and mechanical equipment
  • Technical writing to support change management program
  • Monitor daily work requests and manage to resolution
  • On-site support of contractors and vendors

Requirements For Data Center Engineering Operations Technician

Linux
  • Technical (Military/Trade School) training or 2+ years of electrical or mechanical, HVAC, fire system experience
  • 2+ years experience with Microsoft Office products
  • High school or equivalent diploma
  • Ability to lift up to 39 pounds independently
  • Physical capability to work on ladders, stoop, kneel, crouch, and crawl
  • Willingness to work 12-hour shifts and rotating schedules
