Description For Data Center Engineering Operations Technician

AWS Infrastructure Services is seeking a Data Center Engineering Operations Technician to join their world-class team maintaining and operating critical infrastructure systems. This role serves as the front line for hands-on electrical and mechanical equipment maintenance in AWS's sophisticated data centers. You'll work with cutting-edge technology alongside global experts, ensuring 24/7 reliability of some of the world's most powerful data centers.

The position involves maintaining critical systems including standby diesel generators, 3-phase electrical systems, UPS units, PDUs, mechanical equipment like chillers and cooling towers, and fire/life safety systems. You'll conduct daily monitoring rounds, perform preventative maintenance, troubleshoot issues, and manage work requests while ensuring compliance with established procedures.

Responsibilities For Data Center Engineering Operations Technician

  • Daily building rounds to monitor electrical, mechanical, and fire/life safety equipment
  • Monitor Building Management Systems (BMS) and Electrical Power Management System (EPMS)
  • Troubleshoot facility and rack-level events
  • Perform rack installs and decommissioning
  • Perform PM, troubleshooting, root cause analysis of electrical and mechanical equipment
  • Technical writing for change management
  • Monitor and resolve daily work requests
  • On-site support of contractors and vendors
  • Work rotating 12-hour shifts with possible on-call duties

Requirements For Data Center Engineering Operations Technician

Linux
  • High school or equivalent diploma
  • Technical (Military/Trade School) training or 1+ years of electrical or mechanical, HVAC, fire system experience
  • 1+ years of electrical or mechanical experience
  • 1+ years experience with Microsoft Office products (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
