Description For Data Center Engineering Operations Technician

Join AWS Infrastructure Services, the team responsible for designing, planning, delivering, and operating AWS's global infrastructure. As a Data Center Engineering Operations Technician, you'll be part of the front-line team maintaining some of the world's most sophisticated data centers. The role involves hands-on work with critical infrastructure systems including electrical, mechanical, and fire/life safety equipment.

You'll work with cutting-edge technology in a mission-critical environment, ensuring 24/7 reliability of AWS data centers. Your responsibilities will range from daily monitoring and maintenance to complex troubleshooting of facility systems. You'll handle everything from standby diesel generators and 3-phase electrical systems to centrifugal chillers and cooling towers.

Responsibilities For Data Center Engineering Operations Technician

  • Monitor and record information from electrical, mechanical, and fire/life safety equipment
  • Monitor Building Management Systems (BMS) and Electrical Power Management System (EPMS)
  • Troubleshoot facility and rack-level events within SLAs
  • Perform rack installations and decommissioning
  • Conduct preventative maintenance, troubleshooting, and repairs of electrical and mechanical equipment
  • Technical writing for change management program
  • Monitor and manage daily work requests
  • Provide on-site support for contractors and vendors

Requirements For Data Center Engineering Operations Technician

Linux
  • Technical (Military/Trade School) training or 2+ years of electrical or mechanical, HVAC, fire system experience
  • 2+ years experience with Microsoft Office products (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
  • High school or equivalent diploma
  • Ability to lift up to 39 pounds independently
  • Physical ability to maintain balance, work on ladders, and perform construction tasks
  • Willingness to work 12-hour shifts and rotating schedules
