Description For Data Center Engineering Operations Technician

AWS Infrastructure Services is at the heart of Amazon's cloud operations, responsible for the design, planning, delivery, and operation of all AWS global infrastructure. This role is crucial for maintaining the reliability of AWS data centers worldwide. As a Data Center Engineering Operations Technician, you'll be hands-on with critical facility equipment including electrical systems, mechanical systems, and fire/life safety equipment.

The position involves daily monitoring and maintenance of sophisticated systems like Building Management Systems (BMS) and Electrical Power Management System (EPMS). You'll be responsible for troubleshooting facility issues, performing rack installations and decommissioning, and conducting preventative maintenance on various equipment including diesel generators, UPS units, cooling systems, and more.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone with technical background looking to grow in the cloud infrastructure space. You'll work alongside diverse teams of software, hardware, and network engineers, contributing to the operation of one of the world's largest cloud platforms. Responsibilities For Data Center Engineering Operations Technician

  • Daily building rounds to monitor electrical, mechanical, and fire/life safety equipment
  • Monitor Building Management Systems (BMS) and Electrical Power Management System (EPMS)
  • Troubleshoot facility and rack-level events
  • Perform rack installs and decommissioning
  • Perform PM, troubleshooting, root cause analysis of electrical and mechanical equipment
  • Technical writing for change management program
  • Monitor and resolve daily work requests
  • Provide on-site support for contractors and vendors
  • Maintain mission-critical data center facility equipment

Requirements For Data Center Engineering Operations Technician

  • Technical (Military/Trade School) training or 1+ years of electrical or mechanical, HVAC, fire system experience
  • 1+ years of electrical or mechanical experience
  • 1+ years experience with Microsoft Office products (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
  • High school or equivalent diploma
  • Ability to lift and move up to 39 pounds independently
  • Physical capability to perform construction tasks on ladders
  • Ability to work in rotating 12-hour shifts
