Description For Data Center Engineering Operations Technician

AWS Infrastructure Services is responsible for the design, planning, delivery, and operation of all AWS global infrastructure. As a Data Center Engineering Operations Technician, you'll be part of the team that keeps the cloud running by maintaining and operating critical infrastructure systems in some of the world's most sophisticated data centers.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Managing facility and rack-level events within SLAs
  • Performing rack installations, decommissioning, and facility management
  • Monitoring and maintaining electrical, mechanical, and fire/life safety equipment
  • Managing on-site contractors and vendors
  • Ensuring 99.999% uptime of cloud computing infrastructure
  • Following safety procedures and maintaining documentation

The role requires physical capabilities including:

  • Lifting up to 39 pounds independently
  • Walking job sites in uneven terrain
  • Working on ladders and performing construction tasks
  • Various physical movements including stooping, kneeling, and reaching

You'll work with diverse teams of software, hardware, and network engineers, collaborating across AWS to maintain the highest standards for safety and security. The position offers:

Responsibilities For Data Center Engineering Operations Technician

  • Troubleshoot facility and rack-level events within SLAs
  • Perform rack installs and decommissioning
  • Monitor and maintain electrical, mechanical, and fire/life safety equipment
  • Manage on-site contractors and vendors
  • Maintain data center critical infrastructure for 99.999% uptime
  • Provide key performance indicators to senior engineers
  • Ensure safety procedures are followed
  • Support ticketing systems and change management

Requirements For Data Center Engineering Operations Technician

  • High school or equivalent diploma
  • Technical (Military/Trade School) training or 1+ years of electrical or mechanical, HVAC, fire system experience
  • 1+ years of electrical or mechanical experience
  • 1+ years experience with Microsoft Office products (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
  • Ability to lift up to 39 pounds independently
  • Physical capability to walk, stoop, kneel, crouch, climb stairs
