Description For Data Center Engineering Operations Technician

AWS Infrastructure Services is at the heart of Amazon's cloud operations, responsible for the design, planning, delivery, and operation of all AWS global infrastructure. As a Data Center Engineering Operations Technician, you'll be part of a diverse team maintaining and operating critical infrastructure systems in some of the world's most sophisticated data centers.

The position involves hands-on work with electrical and mechanical equipment, including standby diesel generators, 3-phase electrical systems, HVAC systems, and various critical facility components. You'll conduct daily monitoring rounds, perform preventative maintenance, troubleshoot issues, and ensure 24/7 reliability of the facility's operations.

Responsibilities For Data Center Engineering Operations Technician

  • Daily building rounds to monitor electrical, mechanical, and fire/life safety equipment
  • Monitor Building Management Systems (BMS) and Electrical Power Management System (EPMS)
  • Troubleshoot facility and rack-level events within SLAs
  • Perform rack installs and decommissioning
  • Perform PM, troubleshooting, root cause analysis of electrical and mechanical equipment
  • Technical writing for change management program
  • Monitor and resolve daily work requests
  • Provide on-site support for contractors and vendors

Requirements For Data Center Engineering Operations Technician

Linux
  • Technical (Military/Trade School) training or 2+ years of electrical or mechanical, HVAC, fire system experience
  • 2+ years of electrical or mechanical experience
  • 2+ years experience with Microsoft Office products (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
  • High school or equivalent diploma
  • Ability to lift and move up to 39 pounds independently
  • Ability to work in various physical conditions and positions
