Description For Data Center Engineering Operations Technician

Join AWS as a Data Center Engineering Operations Technician and become part of Earth's most customer-centric company. You'll work with front-line teams supporting operations of world-class data centers, maintaining critical infrastructure systems. The role involves hands-on electrical and mechanical equipment maintenance, troubleshooting, and monitoring of sophisticated data center facilities.

As an EOT, you'll be responsible for maintaining 24/7 reliability of electrical, mechanical, and fire/life safety equipment. You'll work with Building Management Systems, perform rack installations, and handle preventative maintenance on various systems including diesel generators, UPS units, cooling systems, and more.

Responsibilities For Data Center Engineering Operations Technician

  • Daily building rounds to monitor and record information from electrical, mechanical, and fire/life safety equipment
  • Monitor Building Management Systems (BMS) and Electrical Power Management System (EPMS)
  • Troubleshoot facility and rack-level events within internal SLAs
  • Perform rack installs and decommissioning
  • Perform PM, troubleshooting, root cause analysis, and repair of electrical and mechanical equipment
  • Technical writing to support change management program
  • Monitor daily work requests and manage to resolution
  • On-site support of contractors and vendors

Requirements For Data Center Engineering Operations Technician

Linux
  • Technical (Military/Trade School) training or 2+ years of electrical or mechanical, HVAC, fire system experience
  • 2+ years experience with Microsoft Office products
  • High school or equivalent diploma
  • Ability to lift up to 39 pounds independently
  • Physical ability to maintain balance, work on ladders, and perform construction tasks
  • Willingness to work 12-hour shifts and rotating schedules
