Description For Data Center Engineering Operations Technician, DCC Communities

Join AWS Infrastructure Services, the team responsible for keeping the cloud running worldwide. As a Data Center Engineering Operations Technician, you'll be part of Earth's most customer-centric company, working with front-line responders who support some of the world's most powerful data centers. You'll maintain and operate critical infrastructure systems including electrical, mechanical, and fire/life safety equipment.

The role involves hands-on electrical and mechanical equipment maintenance, troubleshooting mission-critical systems like diesel generators, 3-phase electrical systems, UPS units, and cooling systems. You'll work with sophisticated technology in some of the world's most secure data centers, collaborating with global experts to implement cutting-edge solutions.

AWS Infrastructure Services owns the design, planning, delivery, and operation of all AWS global infrastructure. We support all AWS data centers, servers, storage, networking, power, and cooling equipment. This ensures our customers have continuous access to innovation they rely on.

You'll join a diverse team of software, hardware, and network engineers, working on challenging problems with thousands of variables impacting the supply chain. The position requires physical capabilities including lifting, working on ladders, and managing 12-hour shifts. Responsibilities For Data Center Engineering Operations Technician, DCC Communities

  • Daily building rounds to monitor and record information from electrical, mechanical, and fire/life safety equipment
  • Monitor Building Management Systems (BMS) and Electrical Power Management System (EPMS)
  • Troubleshoot facility and rack-level events within internal SLAs
  • Perform rack installs and decommissioning
  • Perform PM, troubleshooting, root cause analysis, and repair of electrical and mechanical equipment
  • Technical writing to support change management program
  • Monitor daily work requests and manage to resolution
  • On-site support of contractors and vendors

Requirements For Data Center Engineering Operations Technician, DCC Communities

Linux
  • Technical (Military/Trade School) training or 2+ years of electrical or mechanical, HVAC, fire system experience
  • 2+ years experience with Microsoft Office products
  • High school or equivalent diploma
  • Ability to lift up to 39 pounds independently
  • Physical ability to maintain balance, work on ladders, and perform construction tasks
  • Willingness to work 12-hour shifts and rotating schedules
