Description For Data Center Engineering Operations Technician, DCC Communities

Amazon Web Services (AWS) is seeking a Data Center Engineering Operations Technician to join their team. As part of Earth's most customer-centric company, you'll work with front-line responders supporting operations of some of the world's most powerful data centers. The Data Center Engineering Operations team maintains and operates critical infrastructure systems, ensuring they can withstand any situation.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Conducting daily building rounds to monitor electrical, mechanical, and fire/life safety equipment
  • Monitoring Building Management Systems (BMS) and Electrical Power Management System (EPMS)
  • Troubleshooting facility and rack-level events within internal SLAs
  • Performing rack installs and decommissioning
  • Executing PM, troubleshooting, root cause analysis, and repairs on electrical and mechanical equipment
  • Technical writing for change management
  • Managing daily work requests and projects from conception to completion
  • Supporting contractors and vendors on-site

The role requires the ability to lift up to 39 pounds independently, participate in group lifts for 40+ pounds, and work in various physical conditions. Shifts can be up to 12 hours and may rotate on a predefined schedule, with some locations having on-call rotations.

Linux
  • High school or equivalent diploma
  • Technical (Military/Trade School) training or 1+ years of electrical or mechanical, HVAC, fire system experience in mission-critical infrastructure
  • 1+ years of experience with Microsoft Office products (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
  • Ability to lift and move up to 39 pounds independently
  • Willingness to work in various physical conditions and perform tasks on ladders
  • Flexibility to work shifts up to 12 hours, potentially rotating schedules
