Description For Data Center Engineering Operations Technician, DCC Communities

Join AWS Infrastructure Services, the team responsible for keeping the cloud running across all AWS global infrastructure. As a Data Center Engineering Operations Technician, you'll be part of Earth's most customer-centric company, working with front-line responders who support some of the world's most powerful data centers. You'll maintain and operate critical infrastructure systems including electrical systems, mechanical equipment, and fire/life safety systems.

The role involves hands-on electrical and mechanical equipment preventative maintenance, troubleshooting, and operation of mission-critical data center facility equipment. You'll work with standby diesel generators, 3-phase electrical systems, UPS units, PDUs, wet cell batteries, CRAHU units, centrifugal chillers, cooling towers, and various other mechanical and electrical systems.

As an AWS Infrastructure Services team member, you'll collaborate with software, hardware, and network engineers, supply chain specialists, and security experts. You'll work on challenging problems involving thousands of variables while helping deliver the highest standards for safety and security. The role offers the opportunity to be part of a team that provides seemingly infinite capacity at the lowest possible cost for AWS customers.

This position requires physical capabilities including lifting, working on ladders, and performing various construction tasks. Shifts can be up to 12 hours and may rotate on a predefined schedule, with some locations having on-call rotations. The role may support multiple locations/sites.

Responsibilities For Data Center Engineering Operations Technician, DCC Communities

  • Daily building rounds to monitor and record information from electrical, mechanical, and fire/life safety equipment
  • Monitor Building Management Systems (BMS) and Electrical Power Management System (EPMS)
  • Troubleshoot facility and rack-level events within internal SLAs
  • Perform rack installs and decommissioning
  • Perform PM, troubleshooting, root cause analysis, and repair of electrical and mechanical equipment
  • Technical writing to support change management program
  • Monitor daily work requests and manage to resolution
  • On-site support of contractors and vendors

Requirements For Data Center Engineering Operations Technician, DCC Communities

Linux
  • Technical (Military/Trade School) training or 2+ years of electrical or mechanical, HVAC, fire system experience
  • 2+ years experience with Microsoft Office products
  • High school or equivalent diploma
  • Ability to lift up to 39 pounds independently
  • Physical ability to maintain balance, work on ladders, and perform construction tasks
  • Willingness to work 12-hour shifts and rotating schedules
