Description For Data Center Engineering Operations Technician, DCC Communities

Join AWS Infrastructure Services, the team responsible for keeping the cloud running worldwide. As a Data Center Engineering Operations Technician, you'll be part of Earth's most customer-centric company, working with front-line responders who support some of the world's most powerful data centers.

Your role involves maintaining and operating critical infrastructure systems, including electrical systems (generators, UPS units, PDUs), mechanical equipment (chillers, cooling towers, CRAHU units), and fire/life safety systems. You'll work alongside global experts implementing cutting-edge technology in some of the world's most sophisticated and secure data centers.

The position offers hands-on experience with mission-critical facilities, reporting to a Data Center Facility Manager. Daily responsibilities include equipment monitoring, preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, and technical documentation. You'll be essential in ensuring 24/7 reliability of AWS infrastructure.

Responsibilities For Data Center Engineering Operations Technician, DCC Communities

  • Monitor and record information from electrical, mechanical, and fire/life safety equipment
  • Monitor Building Management Systems (BMS) and Electrical Power Management System (EPMS)
  • Troubleshoot facility and rack-level events within SLAs
  • Perform rack installs and decommissioning
  • Perform PM, troubleshooting, root cause analysis of electrical and mechanical equipment
  • Technical writing for change management program
  • Monitor and resolve daily work requests
  • Provide on-site support for contractors and vendors

Requirements For Data Center Engineering Operations Technician, DCC Communities

Linux
  • Technical (Military/Trade School) training or 2+ years of electrical or mechanical, HVAC, fire system experience
  • 2+ years' experience with Microsoft Office products (Excel, Word and PowerPoint)
  • High school or equivalent diploma
  • Ability to lift up to 39 pounds independently
  • Physical ability to maintain balance, work on ladders, and perform construction tasks
  • Willingness to work 12-hour shifts and rotating schedules
