Description For Data Center Engineering Operations Technician

Join Amazon Web Services (AWS), the world's most comprehensive and broadly adopted cloud platform, as a Data Center Engineering Operations Technician. You'll be part of the team that maintains and operates critical infrastructure systems in some of the world's most sophisticated and secure data centers.

As an EOT, you'll work with front-line responders supporting operations of powerful data centers, handling everything from electrical and mechanical equipment maintenance to fire/life safety systems. Your responsibilities include daily monitoring rounds, troubleshooting facility events, performing rack installations, and maintaining crucial systems like standby diesel generators, UPS units, and cooling systems.

The role offers unique opportunities to work with cutting-edge technology while contributing to AWS Infrastructure Services, which owns the design, planning, delivery, and operation of all AWS global infrastructure. You'll collaborate with diverse teams of software, hardware, and network engineers, working on challenging problems that impact global cloud computing.

Responsibilities For Data Center Engineering Operations Technician

  • Daily building rounds to monitor electrical, mechanical, and fire/life safety equipment
  • Monitor Building Management Systems (BMS) and Electrical Power Management System (EPMS)
  • Troubleshoot facility and rack-level events within SLAs
  • Perform rack installs and decommissioning
  • Perform PM, troubleshooting, root cause analysis of electrical and mechanical equipment
  • Technical writing for change management program
  • Monitor and resolve daily work requests
  • Provide on-site support for contractors and vendors
  • Work rotating 12-hour shifts with possible on-call rotations

Requirements For Data Center Engineering Operations Technician

Linux
  • High school or equivalent diploma
  • Technical (Military/Trade School) training or 1+ years of electrical or mechanical, HVAC, fire system experience
  • 1+ years of electrical or mechanical experience
  • 1+ years experience with Microsoft Office products (Excel, Word and PowerPoint)
  • Ability to lift and move up to 39 pounds independently
  • Ability to participate in group lifts for 40+ pounds
  • Physical ability to maintain balance and perform tasks on ladder
  • Ability to work in environment requiring ear protection
