Description For Data Center Facility Engineer, DCC Communities

AWS Infrastructure Services is seeking a Data Center Engineering Operations Engineer to join their expanding Data Centers (DC) Cloud regions. This role is crucial in maintaining AWS's global infrastructure, which powers cloud services for customers worldwide. As a Data Center Facility Engineer, you'll be responsible for the operation and maintenance of world-class mechanical and electrical infrastructure in AWS data centers.

The position offers a unique opportunity to work with cutting-edge technology in critical facilities, ensuring the continuous operation of AWS's cloud infrastructure. You'll be part of a diverse team that includes software, hardware, and network engineers, supply chain specialists, and security experts. The role combines hands-on technical work with strategic thinking to maintain facility operations while implementing crucial safety procedures.

Key responsibilities include maintaining safety standards, operating sophisticated electrical and mechanical equipment (UPS, Switchgear, HVAC systems, etc.), troubleshooting facility issues, and performing root cause analysis. The work schedule involves rotational shifts of 4 days of 12-hour shifts, including both day and night shifts.

Responsibilities For Data Center Facility Engineer, DCC Communities

  • Follow and maintain the highest safety standards and encourage safety culture
  • Support electrical and mechanical equipment including UPS, Switchgear, Circuit Breakers, ATS, Generators, Chillers, HVAC
  • Operate and maintain mechanical, electrical, and fire/life safety equipment
  • Troubleshoot facility and rack-level events within internal SLAs
  • Perform root cause analysis of equipment failures
  • Drive innovation while reducing operational costs
  • Work rotational shifts (4 days of 12 hours shifts)
  • Perform daily operational readings of equipment
  • Supervise contractors performing maintenance

Requirements For Data Center Facility Engineer, DCC Communities

Linux
  • Bachelors Degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office products and web-based operational tools
  • Proficient with Change Management Systems (CMS) and Ticket Systems
  • Broad operational knowledge and experience in critical operational environment
  • Familiarity with electrical and mechanical equipment
