Description For Data Center Facility Engineer (M&E) - West London, DCEO

AWS Infrastructure Services owns the design, planning, delivery, and operation of all AWS global infrastructure. We're the people who keep the cloud running, supporting all AWS data centers and the servers, storage, networking, power, and cooling equipment that ensure our customers have continual access to innovation.

As a Data Center Facility Engineer (M&E) in West London, you'll join a diverse team of software, hardware, and network engineers, supply chain specialists, security experts, and operations managers. You'll be part of the Engineering and Facilities team, responsible for:

  • Maintaining availability for customers
  • Ensuring maintenance and operation of technical infrastructure
  • Upkeep and operation of the DC facility

Key responsibilities include:

  1. Safety: Follow and maintain the highest safety standards, encourage a world-class safety culture, and own safety initiatives and projects.

  2. Engineering & Facility Operations and Maintenance:

    • Operational experience with electrical and mechanical equipment (UPS's, Switchgear, Circuit Breakers, ATS's, Diesel Generators, Chillers, HVAC, Exhaust Fans, VFD's, and Transformers)
    • Troubleshoot events within internal SLA's
    • Perform daily operational readings of all mechanical and electrical equipment
    • Supervise contractors for servicing or preventive maintenance
  3. Physical Requirements:

    • Manual handling and lifting of equipment
    • Ability to work shifts (morning, late, and night)
    • On-call rotation for off-duty emergency calls

Qualifications:

  • City & Guilds/NVQ Level 3 in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering or equivalent
  • Experience in a critical operations environment
  • Broad operational knowledge of electrical and mechanical equipment
  • Proficiency with Change Management Systems (CMS) and Ticket Systems

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Extensive Data Center engineering experience
  • Degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or relevant discipline
  • Familiarity with Building Management System (BMS) and Electrical Power Monitoring System (EPMS)
