Description For Data Center Facility Operations Manager

Join AWS Infrastructure Services, the team responsible for keeping the world's largest cloud platform running. As a Data Center Facility Operations Manager, you'll oversee critical infrastructure operations in some of the most sophisticated data centers globally. You'll manage 24x7 shift technicians, ensuring 99.999% uptime for mission-critical systems including switchgear, generators, UPS systems, and cooling equipment.

The role combines technical expertise with leadership, requiring you to maintain high availability while optimizing operational costs. You'll drive safety protocols, manage budgets, lead improvement projects, and respond to emergencies. Responsibilities For Data Center Facility Operations Manager

  • Oversee all aspects of the data center's critical physical infrastructure
  • Manage on-site teams of 24x7 shift technicians, sub-contractors and vendors
  • Drive safety and security culture and compliance within the team
  • Hire, coach, and promote team members
  • Manage operations budget and expenditures
  • Engage in improvement projects from conception to completion
  • Act as an escalation point for all facilities-related issues
  • Oversee operation of critical systems (switchgear, generators, UPS systems, etc.)
  • Respond to out-of-hours emergency calls
  • May assist in build out of new facilities

Requirements For Data Center Facility Operations Manager

Linux
  • High school or equivalent diploma
  • 2+ years experience in a management position with 5 or more direct reports
  • 2+ years of relevant work experience in a data center or mission critical environment
  • Physical ability to lift 40+ pounds
  • Ability to work with ladders and perform construction tasks
  • Knowledge of UPS, Generators, HVAC, Evaporators and other critical infrastructure
