Description For Data Center Facility Operations Manager

Join Amazon Web Services (AWS), the world's most comprehensive and broadly adopted cloud platform, as a Data Center Facility Operations Manager. In this role, you'll be at the forefront of maintaining and operating some of the world's most sophisticated and secure data centers.

As part of AWS Infrastructure Services, you'll oversee critical physical infrastructure and lead teams of technicians responsible for maintaining exceptional uptime (99.999%+) across various systems including switchgear, generators, UPS systems, and cooling equipment. Your leadership will be crucial in ensuring high availability while optimizing operational costs.

Responsibilities For Data Center Facility Operations Manager

  • Oversee all aspects of the data center's critical physical infrastructure
  • Manage on-site teams of 24x7 shift technicians, sub-contractors and vendors
  • Drive safety and security culture and compliance within the team
  • Hire, coach, and promote team members
  • Manage operations budget and expenditures
  • Act as an escalation point for all facilities-related issues
  • Oversee operation of critical systems (switchgear, generators, UPS systems, etc.)
  • Utilize root cause analysis and troubleshooting skills
  • May assist in the build out of new facilities

Requirements For Data Center Facility Operations Manager

Linux
  • High school or equivalent diploma
  • 2+ years of experience in a management position with 5 or more direct reports
  • 2+ years of relevant work experience in a data center or mission critical environment
  • Knowledge in UPS, Generators, HVAC, Evaporators and other critical infrastructure
  • Physical ability to lift 40+ pounds
  • Ability to work on ladders and perform construction tasks
  • Willingness to respond to out-of-hours emergency calls
