Description For Data Center Facility Operations Manager, DCC Communities

Join Amazon Web Services (AWS), the world's most comprehensive and broadly adopted cloud platform, as a Data Center Facility Manager. You'll be part of the AWS Infrastructure Services team that owns the design, planning, delivery, and operation of all AWS global infrastructure.

In this role, you'll work with teams of front-line responders who support the operations of some of the world's most powerful data centers. The Data Center Engineering Operations team maintains and operates critical infrastructure systems that must maintain better than 99.999% uptime. You'll be responsible for overseeing all aspects of the data center's physical infrastructure, managing on-site teams of 24x7 shift technicians, and ensuring high availability while maintaining service level agreements.

As a Facility Manager, you'll drive safety and security culture, manage operations budgets, lead improvement projects, and serve as an escalation point for facilities-related issues. You'll work with sophisticated systems including switchgear, generators, UPS systems, power distribution equipment, chillers, and cooling towers. The role requires both technical expertise and strong leadership skills, as you'll be responsible for team development and performance management.

Responsibilities For Data Center Facility Operations Manager, DCC Communities

  • Oversee data center's critical physical infrastructure
  • Manage 24x7 shift technicians, sub-contractors and vendors
  • Drive safety and security culture and compliance
  • Hire, coach, and promote team members
  • Manage operations budget and expenditures
  • Lead improvement projects from conception to completion
  • Act as escalation point for facilities-related issues
  • Oversee critical systems operation (switchgear, generators, UPS, cooling systems)
  • Perform root cause analysis and troubleshooting
  • Maintain 99.999% uptime for mission-critical servers

Requirements For Data Center Facility Operations Manager, DCC Communities

Linux
  • High school or equivalent diploma
  • 4+ years of experience in a management position with 5 or more direct reports
  • 5+ years of relevant work experience in a data center or mission critical environment
  • Knowledge in UPS, Generators, HVAC, Evaporators and critical infrastructure
  • Physical ability to lift 40+ pounds
  • Ability to work on ladders and perform construction tasks
  • Willingness to respond to out-of-hours emergency calls
