Description For Data Center Manager, DCC Communities

AWS Infrastructure Services is seeking a Data Center Manager to join their expanding infrastructure management team. This role combines technical leadership with people management, focusing on operating and maintaining AWS's global data center operations. The position requires someone who can effectively manage a team of technicians, implement best practices, and ensure smooth data center operations.

The role involves overseeing several of Amazon.com's Data Centers during the day shift, managing a diverse team of technicians, and ensuring operational excellence. Key responsibilities include trouble ticket management, change coordination, staff training, and policy implementation. The ideal candidate will have experience in technical management, networking, and hardware architectures.

AWS Infrastructure Services is fundamental to AWS's operations, owning the design, planning, delivery, and operation of all AWS global infrastructure. This team is responsible for keeping the cloud running, managing servers, storage, networking, power, and cooling equipment that ensures continuous customer access to AWS services.

Responsibilities For Data Center Manager, DCC Communities

  • Prioritize and assign trouble tickets to data center technicians and operators
  • Routinely review ticket queue for large events and address accordingly
  • Coordinate change management resources
  • Guide, train and educate data staff on best practices
  • Manage and deliver mid-size projects
  • Recommend, document, and oversee policies and procedures
  • Manage a diverse team of data technicians
  • Provide weekly report to the data center manager
  • Maintain the on-call schedule coordinating absence and vacations
  • Recruit and train data technicians
  • Host weekly staff meetings
  • Write and deliver performance reviews for staff

Requirements For Data Center Manager, DCC Communities

Linux
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • 2+ years of experience managing people in a technical environment
  • 3+ years of networking experience and knowledge of cabling best practices
  • 3+ years of experience with hardware architectures and troubleshooting experience
  • 3+ years of experience with system management tools and client/server environments
