Description For Data Center Technical Operations Engineer

AWS Infrastructure Services is seeking a Data Center Engineering Operations (DCEO) Engineer to join their Infrastructure Operations team. This role is crucial in maintaining the physical infrastructure of AWS, ensuring operational excellence in safety, security, availability, and efficiency. The position involves working with critical facilities management and requires strong technical understanding of electrical/mechanical systems.

As a DCEO Engineer, you'll be responsible for the 24/7 operation of AWS data centers, managing both routine maintenance and emergency services for various critical systems including switch-gear, generators, UPS systems, and cooling equipment. You'll work in a dynamic environment where you'll install new rack capacity, manage contractors, establish performance benchmarks, and drive projects to improve facility capacity and efficiency.

The role offers unique challenges in supporting AWS's rapidly growing infrastructure, requiring a hands-on approach and technical expertise. You'll collaborate with cross-functional teams, including IT managers and business leaders, to coordinate operations and optimize facility performance. The position includes a rotating shift pattern and on-call responsibilities, ensuring continuous support for AWS's global infrastructure.

Requirements For Data Center Technical Operations Engineer

Linux
  • High school or equivalent diploma
  • Valid driver's license and own vehicle
  • Ability to lift 18kgs
  • Ability to work in rotating 12-hour shifts
  • 2+ years of data center engineering experience (preferred)
