Description For Data Center Technical Operations Engineer

AWS Infrastructure Services is seeking a Data Center Engineering Operations (DCEO) Engineer to join their Infrastructure Operations team. This role is crucial in maintaining the physical infrastructure of AWS, ensuring high standards for operational performance in safety, security, availability, productivity, capacity, efficiency, and cost.

The position involves working in a 24/7 rotating shift pattern, managing critical facilities systems including electrical and mechanical equipment. You'll be responsible for maintaining uptime, managing costs, assessing risks, and overseeing maintenance of critical infrastructure. The role requires hands-on experience with data center systems such as switch-gear, generators, UPS systems, and cooling equipment.

Responsibilities For Data Center Technical Operations Engineer

  • Manage and maintain critical systems including switch-gear, generators, UPS systems, power distribution equipment
  • Installation of new rack capacity and provisioning of power/cooling
  • On-site management of contractors and vendors
  • Establish performance benchmarks and prepare reports for facility infrastructure operations
  • Generate change management requests & incident management tickets
  • Collaborate with data center IT managers for day to day operations
  • Drive & implement projects to increase facility capacity, efficiency, sustainability & reliability
  • Provide 24x7 support through on-call rotation

Requirements For Data Center Technical Operations Engineer

Linux
  • 4+ years of relevant work experience in facilities management, maintaining a data centre or critical space facility
  • Experience communicating technical concepts to resolve issues efficiently in a high pressure environment
  • Experience with, awareness of, and adherence to physical security protocol
  • Valid driver's license and own vehicle
  • Ability to work in 24/7 rotating shift pattern
  • Physical capabilities for bending, lifting, stretching, and reaching, ascending and descending ladders
