Description For Data Center Technical Operations Engineer

AWS Infrastructure Services is seeking a Data Center Engineering Operations (DCEO) Engineer to join their Infrastructure Operations team. This role is crucial in maintaining the physical infrastructure that powers AWS's global cloud services. The position involves managing critical facilities, ensuring operational excellence in safety, security, availability, and efficiency.

The ideal candidate will have strong technical understanding of electrical and mechanical systems, with experience in critical facilities management. You'll be responsible for maintaining various systems including switch-gear, generators, UPS systems, power distribution equipment, and cooling systems. The role requires hands-on involvement in rack installation, capacity management, and vendor coordination.

Responsibilities For Data Center Technical Operations Engineer

  • Manage routine maintenance and emergency service of critical systems
  • Installation of new rack capacity and provisioning of power/cooling
  • On-site management of contractors and vendors
  • Establish performance benchmarks and prepare reports
  • Generate change management requests & incident management tickets
  • Collaborate with data center IT managers for day-to-day operations
  • Drive & implement projects to increase facility capacity and efficiency
  • Provide 24x7 support through on-call rotation

Requirements For Data Center Technical Operations Engineer

Linux
  • 4+ years of relevant work experience in facilities management, maintaining a datacenter or critical space facility
  • Ability to prioritise in a complex, fast-paced environment
  • Experience with awareness of and adherence to physical security protocol
  • Valid driver's license and own vehicle
  • Ability to lift 18kgs
  • Ability to work in rotating 12-hour shifts
