Description For Data Centre Engineering Operations Chief Engineer, ARN- DCEO

Amazon Web Services (AWS) is seeking a detail-oriented individual to join our Data Centre Engineering Operations Team as a Chief Engineer in Katrineholm. The Data Centre Chief Engineer (CE) is responsible for ensuring all electrical, mechanical, and fire/life safety equipment within the data centre operates at peak efficiency. This role involves planned preventative maintenance, daily corrective work, and emergency response.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Managing and leading the DCEO Engineering Team
  • Establishing performance benchmarks and preparing reports on facility operations
  • Overseeing shift technicians, senior shift technicians, sub-contractors, and vendors
  • Managing critical systems such as switchgear, generators, UPS systems, and cooling equipment
  • Data centre capacity planning and reporting
  • Assisting in the design and build-out of new facilities
  • Coordinating with IT managers and business leaders on projects and capacity management
  • Delivering quality service and meeting customer demands
  • Managing assets and inventory
  • Responding to out-of-hours emergency calls

The ideal candidate should have:

  • NVQ Level 3 in Electrical/Mechanical Engineering (or equivalent)
  • A degree in an applicable engineering discipline (or currently enrolled)
  • 3+ years of Data Centre Engineering/Operations Experience
  • Experience with Data Centre Infrastructure (UPS/Generators/Chillers)
  • High/Low Voltage Authorised Person (AP) experience

Preferred qualifications:

  • 6+ years of Data Centre Engineering/Operations Experience
  • Fundamental knowledge of network design and layout
  • Low voltage (copper/fiber) cabling experience
