Amazon Web Services (AWS) is seeking a detail-oriented individual to join our Data Centre Engineering Operations Team as a Chief Engineer in Katrineholm. The Data Centre Chief Engineer (CE) is responsible for ensuring all electrical, mechanical, and fire/life safety equipment within the data centre operates at peak efficiency. This role involves planned preventative maintenance, daily corrective work, and emergency response.
Key responsibilities include:
- Managing and leading the DCEO Engineering Team
- Establishing performance benchmarks and preparing reports on facility operations
- Overseeing shift technicians, senior shift technicians, sub-contractors, and vendors
- Managing critical systems such as switchgear, generators, UPS systems, and cooling equipment
- Data centre capacity planning and reporting
- Assisting in the design and build-out of new facilities
- Coordinating with IT managers and business leaders on projects and capacity management
- Delivering quality service and meeting customer demands
- Managing assets and inventory
- Responding to out-of-hours emergency calls
The ideal candidate should have:
- NVQ Level 3 in Electrical/Mechanical Engineering (or equivalent)
- A degree in an applicable engineering discipline (or currently enrolled)
- 3+ years of Data Centre Engineering/Operations Experience
- Experience with Data Centre Infrastructure (UPS/Generators/Chillers)
- High/Low Voltage Authorised Person (AP) experience
Preferred qualifications:
- 6+ years of Data Centre Engineering/Operations Experience
- Fundamental knowledge of network design and layout
- Low voltage (copper/fiber) cabling experience
