Description For Data Centre Linux & HW Engineer, Data Center Operations (DCO)

AWS Infrastructure Services is seeking a Data Centre Linux & HW Engineer to join their team at Amazon Data Services India Private Limited (ADSIPL). This role is crucial in maintaining AWS's global infrastructure, supporting data centers, servers, storage, and networking equipment. The position offers a unique opportunity to work in innovative data centers and be at the forefront of cloud technology in India.

As a Data Centre Linux & HW Engineer, you'll be responsible for maintaining system reliability, troubleshooting technical issues, and serving as a primary point of contact for both internal and external customers. The role involves hands-on work with hardware, Linux systems, and network infrastructure, requiring both technical expertise and physical capabilities.

Key responsibilities include deep diving into Linux server issues, XEN service virtualization troubleshooting, handling physical layer outages, and participating in data center power & cooling events. You'll work in a 24x7 shift rotation environment, installing and configuring racks of hosts, and managing high-severity issues.

Responsibilities For Data Centre Linux & HW Engineer, Data Center Operations (DCO)

  • Maintain system reliability by resolving trouble tickets efficiently
  • Serve as escalation point for Systems and Network hardware problems
  • Troubleshoot Linux server issues
  • Handle XEN service virtualization troubleshooting
  • Install & configure racks of hosts
  • Participate in Data Center power & cooling events
  • Physical replacement of server and network device parts
  • Enforce Security Best Practices
  • Participate in high impact projects
  • Mentor less technical staff

Requirements For Data Centre Linux & HW Engineer, Data Center Operations (DCO)

  • Solid Understanding of Linux/Unix Administration
  • Experience with Network Protocols: TCP/IP, Ethernet, L2/L3 technologies
  • Physical ability to lift & rack equipment up to 20kg
  • Ability to work in 24x7 shift rotation
  • Knowledge of server booting: POST, BIOS, PXE, Kickstart, GRUB/LILO, RAID
  • Experience with network hardware: Copper and Optical Fiber Cabling, Switches, Routers
