Description For Data Engineer, Amazon Customer Service

Amazon's Worldwide Defect Elimination (WWDE) team is seeking a Data Engineer to join their Voice of Customer (VoC) team. This role is crucial in building Amazon's flagship suite of VoC products that connect internal employees with customer experience data and insights.

The position involves developing scalable data pipelines for both structured and unstructured data, working with cutting-edge technologies including machine learning models and generative AI. You'll be transforming billions of customer interactions into actionable insights and building automated systems to identify and resolve systemic defects.

Key initiatives for 2025 include:

  • Centralizing customer-reported issues with automated ML-based root-cause detection
  • Expanding GenAI capabilities for automated defect detection
  • Enhancing customer feedback coverage with multi-modal support
  • Improving VoC mechanism observability

You'll collaborate with Software Developers, BI Engineers, Scientists, and Program Managers in a fast-paced, dynamic environment with a strong team culture. The role offers exposure to the latest big data technologies and opportunities to work with statistical and Natural Language modeling.

The ideal candidate should possess strong business judgment, architectural design skills, and experience with big data technologies (Spark/Hive, Redshift, EMR, AWS). This position offers competitive compensation ranging from $91,200 to $185,000 per year based on location, plus comprehensive benefits including equity and sign-on payments.

Requirements For Data Engineer, Amazon Customer Service

Python
  • 1+ years of data engineering experience
  • Experience with data modeling, warehousing and building ETL pipelines
  • Experience with one or more query language (SQL, PL/SQL, DDL, MDX, HiveQL, SparkSQL, Scala)
  • Experience with one or more scripting language (Python, KornShell)
