Description For Data Engineer, Amazon Photos

Amazon Photos is seeking a Data Engineer to join their team focused on helping consumers preserve and re-live their memories. This service provides unlimited photo storage for Prime members with apps available across multiple platforms including iOS, Android, Web, Desktop, Fire Tablet & Fire TV, and integration with Alexa devices.

As a Data Engineer, you'll work with cutting-edge technologies in petabyte-scale data environments. You'll be responsible for enhancing existing data architecture, standardizing metrics and definitions, and developing end-to-end data engineering solutions for complex analytical problems. The role requires expertise in AWS technologies including S3, Redshift, EMR, Glue, Iceberg, SageMaker, and Athena.

Key responsibilities include creating scalable data models, managing data ingestion from various sources, developing ETL pipelines, and collaborating across teams to deliver results. You'll work with a comprehensive suite of AWS technologies and drive the development process from design to release.

Responsibilities For Data Engineer, Amazon Photos

  • Create scalable data models for effective data processing, storage, retrieval, and archiving
  • Manage data ingestion from heterogeneous data sources, with automated data quality checks
  • Develop and manage ETLs to source data from various systems
  • Create unified data model for analytics and reporting
  • Manage numerous requests concurrently and strategically prioritize when necessary
  • Partner/collaborate across teams/roles to deliver results
  • Design, implement, and support data warehouse/data lake infrastructure using AWS bigdata stack

Requirements For Data Engineer, Amazon Photos

Python
  • 1+ years of data engineering experience
  • Experience with data modeling, warehousing and building ETL pipelines
  • Experience with SQL
  • Experience with one or more query language (SQL, PL/SQL, DDL, MDX, HiveQL, SparkSQL, Scala)
  • Experience with one or more scripting language (Python, KornShell)
