Description For Data Engineer, Fintech

As a Data Engineer at Amazon's Fintech division, you will be working in one of the world's largest cloud-based data lakes. You'll be part of a team building large-scale near real-time data ingestion, calculation engine, and reporting solutions for Finance teams across the globe.

Your responsibilities include:

  • Helping engineers navigate priorities and communicating clear expectations with customers
  • Designing and implementing data warehouse solutions using multiple platforms (EMR, RDBMS, Columnar, Cloud)
  • Architecting highly efficient data and reporting structures
  • Developing long-term domain/technology strategies
  • Performing design reviews and offering feedback on design, integration, performance, and scalability issues
  • Mentoring, developing, and training engineers
  • Working with huge datasets to answer business questions and drive change

You'll have the opportunity to work with emerging technologies such as Redshift and associated AWS cloud services while driving business intelligence solutions end-to-end. This high-impact role requires someone who loves data, understands enterprise information systems, has a strong business sense, and can lead a team to put these skills into action.

Key Qualifications:

  • 3+ years of data engineering experience
  • Experience with data modeling, warehousing, and building ETL pipelines
  • Proficiency in SQL
  • Strong communication and business skills
  • Passion for working with large datasets

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with AWS technologies (Redshift, S3, AWS Glue, EMR, Kinesis, FireHose, Lambda)
  • Familiarity with IAM roles and permissions
  • Experience with non-relational databases / data stores
