Description For Data Engineer I

The Data Engineer I role is an integral part of the team responsible for delivering accurate, secure, and timely recruiting data and metrics to our customers across Amazon. The ideal candidate is passionate about data and analytics, with a strong foundation in data engineering. They are eager to learn and grow, and thrive in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Designing, implementing, and supporting secure access to large datasets
  • Architecting, developing, and maintaining scalable data infrastructure and data pipelines
  • Extracting, transforming, and loading data from various sources using SQL, scripting, and AWS big data technologies
  • Designing and implementing ETL pipelines and BI solutions
  • Collaborating with business owners, developers, and BI Engineers to explore new data sources and deliver insights
  • Staying up to date with advancements in big data technologies and contributing to pilot projects
  • Proactively identifying and resolving data-related issues

Requirements:

  • 1+ years of data engineering experience
  • Experience with data modeling, warehousing, and building ETL pipelines
  • Experience with SQL
  • Experience with one or more query languages (e.g., SQL, PL/SQL, DDL, MDX, HiveQL, SparkSQL, Scala)
  • Experience with one or more scripting languages (e.g., Python, KornShell)

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with big data technologies such as Hadoop, Hive, Spark, EMR
  • Experience with ETL tools like Informatica, ODI, SSIS, BODI, Datastage, etc.

Amazon offers a competitive compensation package, including a base pay range from $91,200/year to $185,000/year depending on the geographic market. The company also provides equity, sign-on payments, and a full range of medical, financial, and other benefits.
