Amazon.com Services LLC is seeking a Data Engineer III to join their team in Cambridge, Massachusetts. This role is integral to the Alexa Spoken Language Understanding (SLU) platform, focusing on data pipeline development and strategic data modeling.

The position offers a competitive salary range of $154,600 to $209,100 per year and follows a hybrid work model, requiring multiple days in the office per week. This senior-level role requires either a Master's degree with 3 years of experience or a Bachelor's degree with 5 years of experience in relevant fields.

As a Data Engineer III, you'll be responsible for building and optimizing data pipelines and warehousing solutions for complex, big data datasets in the Alexa SLU space. The platform you'll work on powers thousands of users and investigations monthly, making this role crucial for Amazon's voice technology infrastructure.

Key responsibilities include developing logical data models, ensuring data quality and efficiency, and working across teams to optimize data solutions. You'll have the opportunity to influence technical and business strategy while solving complex problems in data architecture.

Responsibilities For Data Engineer III

  • Build and optimize logical data model and data pipelines for big data datasets in Alexa SLU
  • Be accountable for ongoing data quality, efficiency, testing, and maintenance
  • Work independently to source, optimize, and warehouse data for customers
  • Influence large-size data solutions and architecture
  • Optimize consumption of very large data sources
  • Lead in identifying and solving ambiguous problems and architecture deficiencies

Requirements For Data Engineer III

Python
  • Master's degree in Computer Science, Statistics, Engineering, or related field with 3 years experience (or Bachelor's with 5 years experience)
  • 3 years experience with data modeling, data warehousing, and building ETL pipelines
  • Experience in SQL and writing complex, highly-optimized SQL queries
  • Experience in scripting languages (Python, Perl, or Ruby) and Excel
  • Experience with MPP databases (data warehouse and data lake)
  • Experience with Tableau, ETL, and AWS services (Redshift, S3, AWS Glue, EMR, DynamoDB)
  • Experience with cloud data platforms and big data solutions
