Description For Data Engineer, Prime Video Personalization and Discovery Data Platform

Prime Video's technology teams are creating a best-in-class digital video experience through their Personalization and Discovery Data Platform. This role focuses on building a new Data Platform that will streamline ML and engineering teams' access to high-quality, consistent customer-level data. The platform handles both offline processing and real-time data needs while adhering to committed SLAs. As a Data Engineer, you'll be responsible for building and maintaining "golden" datasets — centralized, reliable data assets used across teams to train ML models and deliver personalized storefront experiences. The role involves working with Petabyte-scale data processing, building resilient pipelines, and collaborating with cross-functional teams. You'll be part of a team that acts as guardians of data quality, ensuring datasets are properly classified, discoverable, and accessible. Responsibilities For Data Engineer, Prime Video Personalization and Discovery Data Platform

  • Design and build big data pipelines via Spark/Flink that can handle Petabytes of data per month
  • Build resilient data pipelines with extensive unit tests/integration tests with CI/CD development lifecycle
  • Participate in oncall rotation supporting production data pipelines
  • Manage and orchestrate version migrations across the metadata, transform, and storage layers
  • Oversee and improve production operations, including optimizing data delivery
  • Work closely with Product teams, Data Scientists, Software developers and Business Intelligence Engineer
  • Read, write, and debug data processing and orchestration code

Requirements For Data Engineer, Prime Video Personalization and Discovery Data Platform

Scala
  • 3+ years of data engineering experience
  • Experience with data modeling, warehousing and building ETL pipelines
  • Experience with SQL
  • Experience with AWS technologies (preferred)
  • Experience building MPP data transforms that process multiple Tb per day (preferred)
