Description For Data Engineer, Prime Video Personalization and Discovery Data Platform

Prime Video is seeking a Data Engineer to join their Personalization and Discovery Data Platform team, focusing on building a new data platform that will revolutionize how ML and engineering teams access and leverage customer-level data. This role sits at the intersection of big data engineering and machine learning infrastructure, working on a platform that processes petabytes of data monthly to power personalized streaming experiences for millions of Prime Video customers worldwide.

The position offers an opportunity to shape the future of entertainment technology, working with cutting-edge data processing technologies like Spark and Flink. You'll be responsible for building and maintaining "golden" datasets that serve as the foundation for ML models and personalized storefront experiences. The role combines technical expertise in data engineering with the business impact of improving customer experiences on one of the world's largest streaming platforms.

As a member of the team, you'll have end-to-end ownership of data pipelines, working closely with ML engineers, data scientists, and product teams. The platform you'll help build will streamline access to high-quality, consistent customer-level data for both offline processing and real-time applications. You'll be part of a team that acts as data guardians, ensuring data quality and accessibility while reducing duplicate efforts across teams.

The position offers competitive compensation ranging from $118,900 to $205,600 based on location, plus equity and comprehensive benefits. Responsibilities For Data Engineer, Prime Video Personalization and Discovery Data Platform

  • Design and build big data pipelines via Spark/Flink that can handle Petabytes of data per month
  • Build resilient data pipelines with extensive unit tests/integration tests with CI/CD development lifecycle
  • Participate in oncall rotation supporting production data pipelines
  • Manage and orchestrate version migrations across the metadata, transform, and storage layers
  • Oversee and improve production operations, including optimizing data delivery
  • Work closely with Product teams, Data Scientists, Software developers and Business Intelligence Engineer
  • Read, write, and debug data processing and orchestration code

Requirements For Data Engineer, Prime Video Personalization and Discovery Data Platform

  • 3+ years of data engineering experience
  • Experience with data modeling, warehousing and building ETL pipelines
  • Experience with SQL
  • Experience with AWS technologies (preferred)
  • Experience building MPP data transforms that process multiple Tb per day (preferred)
