Amazon Prime's Science organization is seeking a Data Engineer to join their innovative team that leads Research & Development for Amazon Prime, serving over 200 million members across 25 countries. This role sits at the intersection of engineering systems at Amazon scale and cutting-edge science, including econometrics, ML, and AI.
As a Data Engineer, you'll work alongside world-class scientists to build automated, scalable data solutions that power machine learning applications at Amazon scale. You'll leverage advanced AWS technologies including EMR, EC2, S3, GLUE, KMS, Lambda, and DynamoDB to tackle complex data challenges. Your responsibilities will include building big data pipelines, advancing data engineering infrastructure, and improving data quality monitoring systems.
The role offers an exciting opportunity to work with TB-sized datasets and support real-time access and orchestration across multiple systems. You'll collaborate closely with Prime business leaders, scientists (economists, research scientists, applied scientists), and engineering leaders to build innovative data solutions that enhance scientific models and improve customer experiences worldwide.
The team's vision is to enable Prime Science adoption worldwide, setting and raising engineering excellence standards for science-based products at Amazon. This position offers unique challenges in building and scaling science products in real-time, giving you early exposure to artificial intelligence challenges that will be prevalent in the coming years.
The ideal candidate will have at least 1 year of data engineering experience, strong SQL skills, and experience with data modeling, warehousing, and ETL pipelines. Experience with big data technologies like Hadoop, Hive, Spark, and EMR is preferred. The role offers competitive compensation ranging from $91,200 to $185,000 per year, based on location and experience, plus comprehensive benefits and potential equity compensation.
