Description For DCEO Chief Engineer, DCEO

Amazon is seeking an energetic, detail-oriented individual to join their Data Center Engineering Operations Team in the Greater Milan Area. This role is crucial in maintaining the critical physical infrastructure supporting Amazon Web Services. The Data Center Chief Engineer (CE) is responsible for ensuring 100% availability of all electrical, mechanical, and fire/life safety equipment within the data center.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Overseeing day-to-day operations and maintenance of mechanical and electrical equipment
  • Acting as an escalation point for facilities-related issues
  • Performing root cause analysis of equipment failures
  • Creating and deploying new standard practices
  • Providing training and guidance to Engineering Operations Technicians
  • Ensuring adherence to safety procedures
  • Managing large-scale impacting projects and new region support

The ideal candidate will have:

  • A Bachelor's degree in Electrical / Mechanical Engineering or equivalent
  • Strong knowledge and experience with Data Center infrastructure
  • In-depth understanding of UPS, backup generator systems, and mechanical-room infrastructure
  • A full EU driving license
  • Ability to work independently and solve complex problems
  • Aptitude for troubleshooting and maintaining SLAs
  • Experience in reading SLDs and control schematics
  • Excellent communication skills and decision-making abilities
