Description For DCEO Technician, Data Center Engineering Operations

AWS Infrastructure Services (AIS) is seeking an Engineering Operations Technician for their mission-critical Data Center operations. This role is crucial in maintaining the backbone of AWS's cloud infrastructure, ensuring 99.999% uptime for critical systems. The position involves hands-on work with complex electrical and mechanical systems, including diesel generators, UPS systems, and HVAC equipment.

The ideal candidate will be a self-motivated professional with strong technical problem-solving abilities and a commitment to safety. You'll be responsible for maintaining and operating critical infrastructure, supervising contractors, and responding to emergency situations. The role requires both technical expertise and the ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.

Responsibilities For DCEO Technician, Data Center Engineering Operations

  • Operate and maintain mechanical, electrical and HVAC equipment within the Data Center
  • Supervise contractors performing servicing or preventive maintenance
  • Develop work plans for emergency repair of critical assets
  • Perform on-call and rotating schedule duties
  • Ensure compliance with safety procedures and physical security policies
  • Perform rack power installs, rack PDU, and rack ATS replacements
  • Create and manage Work Orders in asset management system
  • Troubleshoot electrical and mechanical equipment
  • Monitor facility via BMS, PMS, and walkthroughs
  • Maintain 99.999% uptime for mission-critical servers

Requirements For DCEO Technician, Data Center Engineering Operations

Linux
  • Apprentice/trades certified or diploma in an Electrical field
  • Demonstrate key electrical competencies (Practice & Theory)
  • Knowledge of mechanical systems (Mechanical, HVAC systems, Controls)
  • Good English communication skills
  • Ability to work on a 24x7 schedule
  • Ability to work at heights and from ladders
  • Physical capability to perform tasks and coordinate body movements when using tools
