AWS Infrastructure Services (AIS) is seeking an Electrical Engineer to join their world-class engineering team leading the electrical design of Data Centers across the rapidly expanding Asia Pacific (APAC) portfolio. This role is crucial in maintaining AWS's global infrastructure, which supports all AWS data centers and the equipment that ensures continuous customer access to cloud innovations.
The position requires a skilled professional with hands-on electrical design experience throughout the project lifecycle, from concept design to commissioning. As a technical leader, you'll explain complex systems clearly and contribute to the global knowledge base while driving continuous improvement at a scale. The role involves working with internal teams and external stakeholders, including utilities, manufacturers, vendors, consultants, and contractors.

Responsibilities For Electrical Design Engineer, APAC Data Center Design Engineering
- Lead Data center electrical designs in collaboration with other disciplines
- Participate in site selection reviews and work with local utilities
- Design critical Data Center equipment including site-wide MV infrastructure
- Create designs meeting quality and budgetary requirements
- Work with regional vendors and manufacturers
- Ensure compliance with IEC requirements and APAC design codes
- Review and approve equipment submittals
- Define project scope and provide technical support
- Work with commissioning teams for testing and validation
- 25% travel required throughout the region
Requirements For Electrical Design Engineer, APAC Data Center Design Engineering
- Degree in Electrical Engineering field
- 3+ years of experience in data center or mission critical facility design
- Comprehensive understanding of code requirements across APAC region
- Fundamental understanding of critical MV and LV electrical equipment
- Detailed understanding of MV system modelling, relays, protection schemes
- Knowledge of circuit breakers, power and distribution transformers
- Understanding of electrical switchgear, grounding and earthing
